THE SAVINGS ARE BACK!

Shaw Solar Introduces a New Way to Save: The Energy Service Agreement (ESA)

We brought the solar tax credit back! Well… not the credit, just the savings.

At Shaw Solar, we believe solar energy should be affordable and accessible to everyone. For 20 years, we've helped homeowners across Southwest Colorado take control of their energy costs, and we're always looking for new ways to make clean energy a better investment.

When the federal residential solar tax credit ended in 2025, we knew we needed to find another way to keep those savings within reach.

Good news! We found one.

Through our partnership with Amicus Impact, we're excited to introduce the Energy Service Agreement (ESA), a new way for homeowners to save up to 30% on solar and battery installations, right from the start.

No tax liability required. No waiting for a tax refund. Just immediate savings and the same trusted local Shaw Solar team you've known for 20 years.

What Is an Energy Service Agreement?

An Energy Service Agreement, or ESA, is a new way to enjoy significant upfront savings on solar and battery systems without needing to claim a federal tax credit themselves. You make a discounted upfront payment, and Amicus Impact owns and maintains the system, while Shaw Solar handles the design, installation, and local support.

You get to enjoy the benefits of producing your own clean energy, potentially lowering your utility bills, and protecting yourself from rising electricity rates.

Four Reasons to Love the ESA

1. Immediate Savings

Why wait for a tax refund when you can save right away?

With the ESA, eligible solar and battery projects can receive an upfront discount of up to 31%. Those savings are reflected in your project cost from the beginning.

2. No Tax Liability Required

Unlike the former residential solar tax credit, the ESA discount doesn't depend on your personal income tax liability.

That means homeowners who couldn't previously take full advantage of the tax credit can now benefit from upfront solar savings.

3. Five Years of Included Care

For the first five years, Amicus Impact owns, insures, monitors, and maintains your system. Repairs are included, too.

You get to enjoy the benefits of solar energy while the professionals take care of your system.

4. Local People. Local Support.

This is still the Shaw Solar you know and trust!

Our local team designs and installs your system and remains your point of contact for support. No national call centers or unfamiliar contractors.

Just your local, employee-owned solar experts right here in Southwest Colorado.

What Happens After Five Years?

Starting in Year Six, you have the option to purchase your system for a small payment and take full ownership!

Your purchase price is based on the system's Fair Market Value, minus a credit for your unused upfront payment, with a minimum purchase price of $1,000.

Not ready to purchase? No problem! You can continue your ESA with fixed monthly payments and no annual increases through Year 15.

The choice is yours!

Backed by a Cooperative, Not a Bank

Shaw Solar is a 100% employee-owned cooperative, and our ESA program is offered through Amicus Impact, part of the Amicus Solar Cooperative.

Amicus is owned by independent solar companies like ours, not Wall Street investors or large financial institutions.

That means the program was created by solar professionals who share a common goal: making solar energy more accessible and delivering long-term value to homeowners.

It's a partnership built around people, not profits for outside shareholders.

Why Go Solar Now?

Solar has always been about more than just saving money.

By investing in solar and energy storage, you're taking meaningful steps toward:

  • Lower energy bills: Produce your own electricity and reduce your dependence on utility power.

  • Protection from rising rates: Reduce your exposure to future electricity price increases.

  • Energy independence: Pair solar with battery storage to keep essential equipment powered during outages.

  • A cleaner future: Reduce your carbon footprint by generating renewable energy right at home.

With the new ESA, these benefits are now within reach for even more Southwest Colorado homeowners.

The Future of Solar Is Looking Bright!

For 20 years, Shaw Solar has been committed to helping our neighbors make smart energy choices. As a local, employee-owned cooperative, we believe the best solutions are the ones that benefit our customers and our community.

Our new Energy Service Agreement is another step toward that mission.

The federal residential solar tax credit may be gone, but significant solar savings are still here.

If you've been waiting for the right time to go solar, this could be your opportunity.
